Hello,

I'm new. I was planning to buy an IMAC (the new one) to use with my DV camcorder samsung VP76I, but It is not listed on the Apple compatibility list

I was thinking all DV camcorders were the same ??

What is the truth about this ??

Will I need to buy a (new) PC ??

As a general rule most FireWire or "iLink" (Sony) DV cams should work with iMovie on your Mac as IEE1394 is a set standard connection regardless of wether your DV cam is included on the Apple compatibility list (this list is rarely updated to include ALL compatible models new or old).

If you can, take your cam with some footage to an Apple retail outlet and try on one of their display machines.

You will get good advice and lots of help

I have an older samsung DV camera (I think its like DSC55 or something). It worked fine with iMovie for OS 9 but doesn't work in OS X...

It does meet the IEEE1394 standard, but it doesn't work with X for some reason- its really stupid and makes me mad that my camera doesn't work!
