Apple has reached the fifth beta generation and is providing developers with new builds of iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, tvOS 15.4, and watchOS 8.5 to try out.

The newest builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled in the test program, or via an over-the-air update on devices running the beta software. Public betas typically arrive within a few days of the developer versions, via the Apple Beta Software Program website.

The fifth round follows the fourth, which arrived on February 22. The third beta landed on February 15, the second on February 8, and the first from January 27.

The betas for iOS have included a fair few new features, including an update for Face ID for users wearing a mask. There's also been sightings of new emoji, Wallet support for driver's licenses, and Tap to Pay on iPhone.

Over on iPadOS, the main change is the inclusion of Universal Control, enabling a Mac user to extend their digital workspace from a Mac or MacBook display to the iPad, interacting with the tablet using the keyboard and mouse.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly advise users avoid installing the betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the very small chance of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install the betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to ensure there are sufficient backups of any important data before performing the update.

Let’s hope for a camera app fix for iPhone 13 models now. The ability to turn off HDR and to take pictures of people with bright skin tones without them looking orange/red. Apple please!
