I have just upgraded my Macbook to 12.5.1 and am locked out of my desktop files. A 30 minute call to Apple helpline failed to resolve the problem. Any suggestions on how to remedy the situation?

If you are able to login to your usual account and the desktop items aren't visible, the desktop folder permissions might have been changed. Go to the folder /Users/username/Desktop and open the info panel (command-i) and check the Sharing & Permissions section. Your username should be set with Read & Write permissions.
Thank you for the response. When I go to the desktop it says it cannot be found. I am not seeing a Sharing& Permission section.
If the Dock is accessible, click the Finder and go to /Users/username. If there's no folder in there named Desktop, make a new folder and name it Desktop.
If you can post an image of the error where it says it cannot be found, that would help to know what's happening.
