How do you get the "herky jerky" effect in iMovie?

Trying to get this look into my movie, but unable to do so. Have been playing around with the settings in the "Ghost Trails" and "Earthquake" effects, but can't get the look I want. I'm not looking for a complicated effect. Just one which ends up showing every second or third frame or so (and I guess it would be slightly pausing on each one so as not to appear that the clip is being playing in fast forward when being viewed in regular speed.)

I appreaciate your assistance!

Slackula..I think this from stupendous-software is what you're looking for. It's shareware but some of the effects are unlocked.

Proxy: Thanks a million! I've give it a try on my iMac when I get home this evening!

Cool. Hope it works out with your project. I've seen some really impressive examples of it used with iMovie

The simplest solution is to film without a tripod.
