Even if they aren't precisely sorted how you want, you can still do that in both Excel and Appleworks. In Excel, that would be 'sort' under the Data menu, then choose the column that contains the genre. (A1 or b1, or whatever).
Alternatively, it might be a good idea to explain in more detail exactly what you want.

The nice part of using excell is that you can sort the data, or make special reports (e.g. all songs, albums only, ...) at will.
Even better would be a MySQL database, but I'd have to look into that.
