Planning to build my brother a Mac

I really want to see what kind of Mac I can build for $500-$600 CDN.



If it works out I can give it to my brother for his porn site surfing



Any ideas? I think building a "custom" beige G3 class Mac would be appropriate at that price range...right?

    I am now looking at eBay to see the price for those parts......I personally prefer a beige G3 parts....since they should be easier to find and cheaper than the G4 parts....

    Also a beige G3 can use a standard ATX PSU.

    You might be able to just pick up a Blue & White G3. Those are pretty good.

    What Porn sites does your brother go to? hehe lol And I would get him a PC if he was only going to use it for Porn. Macs are to good for such a lame activity. Now if he was thinking about running a Porn site that would be different. \

    One day I checked out his bookmark list...my God....over 200 bookmarks! And they are all nicely sorted (put into different folders like Asian, European, Names, etc etc)



    Oh....just won a few bids on eBay.....got a lot of cheap stuff....once they arrive and I will start my first (from scratch) computer assembly work

    Here is a good blue G3, quite basic (300 MHz/6 GB/CDROM/256MB) but it has much more RAM than the other one listed here. That's $250. You'll want a larger hard drive and maybe a CD-RW drive too. The 350 MHz one is $50 more.



    A used blue 17" monitor might be a nice complement to this computer, but a new one might be better as it'll last longer.

    Well. I decide to give the tower DVD playback capbility.....got the DVD drive with the bezel for around 60 CDN



    And bidded a Rage 128 PCI card for 78 CDN



    So.....the total cost will be slightly higher than I expected....



    So far I have got the RAM (one 256), motherboard with Rev C ROM, one DVD drive, one 32x CD-RW, one 40GB HD, one USB card, one Firewire card, one internal Zip Drive, two extra plastic bezels (for the 2nd optical drive and zip drive), keyboard, USB mouse.....



    Now just waiting for the case and the power supply to arrive. Should be at my house in about 4 days.



    Can't wait.....
