The company had announced a renewal of the show in June 2022 after a successful first season. It premieres worldwide on April 5 followed by new episodes every Wednesday through May 3.

Billed as a parody of iconic musicals, the first season was set in a magical town called Schmigadoon, in which everyone lived in a studio musical from the '40s. In the second season, the characters Josh (Key) and Melissa (Strong) travel to Schmicago, the reimagined world of musicals from the '60s and '70s.

Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page have joined the cast for the second season, with Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, and Aaron Tveit.

Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio co-created "Schmigadoon!" with Universal Television as the producer, a Universal Studio Group and Broadway Video division. Andrew Singer executive produces on behalf of Broadway Video, with Micah Frank as co-executive producer.

Paul serves as the showrunner and wrote all of the original songs for the series, and Lorne Michaels is another executive producer. Since its debut, "Schmigadoon!" has earned Emmy and AFI Award wins, plus a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for star Kristin Chenoweth.

They have a few shows being released on Wednesdays now. Including the 3rd season of Ted Laso. There are weeks with 4 or 5 new episodes debuting on a Friday. So it makes sense to split that up a bit.

Wasn't sure I'd like it, almost didn't give it a chance, but ended up loving it.

I found it to be smarmy and boring.

    But tastes vary.

I thought it was genius in the sense that it appealed to folks who love musical theater, and to those who hate it. Something for everyone. The parody was spot-on.
