Mac OS 9 annoying display problem

I'm running 9.2.2 and I just got a new monitor (17 inch NEC CRT, it's really nice)

Anyway, I have a pair of displays, the second being a 15 inch Sony CRT that's pretty old but still looks very fine. Anyway, I accidentally switched the resolution of the Sony monitor to a setting it can't handle (1028x768 @ 85mhz). To make matters worse, somehow it became the 'main monitor' with the menu bar and everything.

So everytime I boot into Mac OS 9.2.2, I can't do anything because the menubar is hidden. I've tried adjusting the settings in from OS X or another partition of OS 9, I've tried zapping PRAM and NVRAM, I've tried installing new ATi Display Drivers, I've tried deleting the Monitors preferences...

Yet still, somehow, if I boot with the Sony monitor powered on, it wlil start up in a resolution it can't handle, and I won't be able to see anything or do anything.

I can just bootup with one monitor, and turn on the Sony later, but the settings don't "stick" when I reboot. What should I do?

    Wow Sounds like the proverbial

" Ghost in the machine " stuff.

Your firing up from OS-X right.

I assume you have deleted the prefs in the library user folder?

You say you have partioned 9.2.2 running native I assume.

I so delete the monitor prefs there too.

I'm only guessing, but its not going to hurt to try.

    Good luck
