Apple Rotations
Moving on from my Moon thread,
I love apples ( the eating kind ) and I sometimes get my old pocket knife out and carefully start peeling off the apple's skin.
In my mind I keep wondering if there is a world record for a single pieced peel & what its length would be.
But that's not the main reason of this thread.
it's just that I noticed that when I start from the top of the apple, carefully peeling down the sides and moving the apple so that the blade always remains on top; that the apple rotates in my hand in one direction.
So far so good.
But here is the wierd thing, for when I get to the middle & slightly tilt the apple ( always keeping that blade on top & pointed in the same direction, the apple ends up needing to be rotated in my hands in the " Opposote direction " from which I first started.
Try it. oranges are just as good for this.
No matter how many times I do it, I still get a kick out of this observation.
