Questions about Software Restore

I want to get my OS 9 system folder back since reformatting my iBook, but I think it's on my software restore CDs and I'm not sure how to get it from them. In fact, I'm not sure exactly how the software restore even works. I want to install OS 9 on my second partition, but I am not sure how to get it. If I use the software restore CDs, is it going to do something bad like erase my hard drive? I have never used them before and the Read Me file wasn't very helpful.

    Nevermind, I just figured it out - I downloaded TinkerTool and told it to show hidden files, and sure enough, there was a folder called .images containing an OS 9 System Folder, AppleWorks, Quicken, etc. Pretty sweet!
