We have tried everyday radio shows with pop music. But ads were annoying. Now we run playlists on YT. Mainly classical music, sometimes new age and folk, at the moment we try oldies music. The really old stuff like this  How about you? What works, what doesn't?

Mostly I just listen to albums I've already listened to a million times though. I need to get better about discovering new music.

At my last corporate job, I did not listen to music while I was working. Over decades of working in offices I have found that music is pretty distracting to me because I end up partially listening/concentrating on the music. It didn't matter what type of music it was: rock, pop, classical, jazz, movie soundtracks, with vocals, instrumental only, etc. It would be fine for menial, repetitious tasks like stuffing envelopes but terrible for things like analyzing budget spreadsheets.

So in the end I stopped listening to music while working. When I started doing my own thing at home, I continued this practice. No music while I was doing anything that required concentration. This carries over to some hobbies as well that require heavy focus.

At that corporate job, sometimes I would listen to music during my lunch break. That was fine.
