iPhoto with 2 separate HDs ?

I currently have my old iPhoto library on an external firewire enclosure [the hard drive is from my previous jaguar setup, on a desktop mac].



Is there anyway to set up iPhoto on my POWERBOOK to where when I add photos, it'll add it to the external drive?



I'm thinking creating aliases would do the trick.







But then what would happen if I wanted to import photos [on vacation, etc.] and I don't have the external hard drive with me?



would that mess things up if I import it w/out the external drive?





any help would be much appreciated.

    they WOULD work for my situation
