Could Jaguar be 64 bit?

There are lots of reports about Apple planning on sueing Motorola over the g5 fiasco. They mention the money wasted on developing a new motherboard/architecture. At the same time Apple was workign on Jaguar. At the time they probably thought that Jaguar would be the first OS to run on the new 64 bit G5s from Motorola. Wouldn't it make sense that they'd make Jaguar 64bit compatible in preparation for these cpus, and even though it never shipped, do you think they would have removed the code? So heres the question: Is there a way to determine if Jaguar is 64bit? And, if it is, does that mean that its ready for the 970.

hmm. Since the 970 is backward compatible with the 32 bit ppc chips I guess all that would be needed would be a kernel update to enable the 64bit addressing and other 970 features.

Would Apple just have to update the mach kernal or would there be some other updates deep in the system that would allow it to run on the 970?
