Water, a bit of sugar, some salts... all of which your body needs in spades after a serious night of drinking.
Followed by eggs, sausage, and lots of black coffee. Your body also needs lots of protein, the grease actually helps coat the stomach walls and soothe them, and lets face it, coffee is the nectar of life anyway.
If you can do it, eating speeds up the recovery process.
Also, in my experience, drinking on a full stomach and/or nibbling on food at the bar always prevents hangovers. I stick to beer and being well fed and am never hungover... *knocks on wood*
i was actually reading a bit about this a few weeks back. apparently hangovers are caused by some chemical thats produced when alcohol is metabolized. the chemical increases the effectiveness of the body's power to naturally ease pain (damn my weed memory for not allowign me to remember specifics). so while your drinking, the alcohol is acting like some pain reliever; as the alcohol leaves your system, pain, which is usually negligible, is felt more (ever notice how just about everything [light, sound, touch] can hurt more the morning after?). so thats why you don't get a hangover during the fun, and if u continue drinking (say... into perpetuity), you won't feel the hangover. but, if you stop (say, one day before eternity) you get a sh!thead of a hangover...kind of like i'll be feeling in the morning. more practically, if you slow down your drinking as the night goes on, and gradually get down to lighter liquour and then back to beer, you'll feel less.
the best way to combat a hangover is to cut it off before you get to that point: smoke weed instead of drinking . there's no hangover with weed . and if u dont like the sweet herb, then down more than a couple of tylenols or aspirins just before you sleep or right when you wake up; they outlast the drought of natural remedy. or, try to sleep at the bar so you can wake up to a shot of jim bean (where's the smiley with a shotglass?).

I knew it !
I've been trying to tell people this all along. it's not the alchohol that makes you drunk, its just the watery 85% that comes with the jungle juice that is the trouble..Therefore logical deduction is
Drink a pint of water in big sips. Go to your kitchen.
Big red chilli with the seeds taken out.
Knob of ginger.
Chop to a pulp.
Fry gently in oil for no more than a minute to flavour the oil.
2 / 3 cups of water. Fish stock. Spoonful of Nam Pla (Thai fish sauce) and spoonful of soy sauce. Spoonful of crunchy organic peanut butter. Knob of creamed coconut. When it's all dissolved, add some rice noodles (better if you soak them beforehand.) When they're hot, stir in some beansprouts.
Eat your hangover cure. A can of coca-cola is ALWAYS good.

Laksa is lovely and this one's easy enough to make with all but the very most debilitating hangover. Saves my life with a depressing regularity...
Oh yes.
EDIT...
With this soup you can forget the noodles, the peanut butter and the coconut and just stick in some leaves: pak choi, if you can get it, any ole green leaves if you can't. Mo liquid, just as good as staving off the pain.

If you drink alcohol (like vodka, gin and tequila) with simple additions (craneberry juice, water, apple juice) you won´t feel any effects the next day (unless, of course, you haven´t been eating). I normally wake up at 10 am no matter how late I fell asleep and I´m able to take my bike and do at least 50 kilometers. And on a good day I drink around 1/4-1/3 bottle of alcohol.
I recommend Hassans recipe. Its very tasty even if I prefer more penaut butter (and I like to make it myself).
Remember: Hassan IS AI cook of the year 2002 so always take advise regarding food from him.
The discomfort experienced during a hangover is mostly the result of dehydration. Metabolizing alcohol takes a lot of H2O. Drink as much water as you can before you crash and immediately when you wake up. Aspirin is good, too.

I usually hit the trails on my Mountain Bike
Dont eat much at all - and stick to just water.
I make sure there isnt much climbing at all - lots of decents etc help get some fresh air in my face and really get me into the swing of things.
