Can't send texts via Apple Watch

For a week or so now my Apple watch has been unable to send texts. I get a "Message Send Failure" soon after hitting send, with 3 options. I've not seen this before. AW is a 4 and phone is a 12 mini running iOS 16. Anyone else?
