How 'bout a new statistic based on average replies to threads

I think an interesting statistic would be to rank members based on the number of people on average who replie to threads they create. ie if you regularly start threads that get 100 people to post then you would be ranked high and if you post threads that no one responds to you would rank low. Members who never start threads would be at the bottom obviously.

I'm guessing you could do this since all the information is already stored in the vB database, right?

It would be cool to see what members generate the most activity on the boards empirically. And I guess you could get prestige for having a high average.

or you could get a whole bunch of bullshit threads in FH and a bunch of flamewar threads in AO... I'd go for this if it didnt include those forums...

Speaking of AO, flamewar threads, or at least heated ones, tend to generate more answers than the others. A qualitie of a thread is not necessary linked to the numbers of people who reply. This way of rating threads, will also increase the level of spam within a thread. If you want that your thread have a long life, you have to post often in it to let continue the discussion.

This sort of rating can reinforce the noise on the forum, something not necessary.

In a more general way, AI, since his beginning have choose to not make a rating. Each people is able to appreciate his favorites posters : stars are not needed
