I've got free tickets to see this singer/songwriter/performer tonight in my home town. I really don't know her though. Anybody does? I was kind of wondering what to expect...

she's fantastic, you're very fortunate, free no less.

    she has a great site

to describe her well, she's worked with peter gabriel, lou reed.

she plays violin, sings and talks, great visuals, very tech-savvy.

she'll be doing moby dick tonight.

Actually, she's doing a show called 'Happiness' (link). I have to say, it does sound appealing.

    She's still alive?

I had forgetten about her. I haven't seen her in over 10 years. I had no idea what to expect when I first saw her, and was better off that way. It was the most entertaining concert I had ever seen. Of course, that's relative.

I saw Laurie Anderson at the UCSB near Santa Barbara about 18 months ago. She sat alone behind a large bank of MIDI keyboards, samplers and synthesizers, playing them while narrating stories and poetry. She was totally stunning. Her 2 hour set felt like 30 minutes, we listened throughout, never distracted by the predictable baggage of a rock'n'roll show. It was a night of 100% wow.

Synthesizers are the easiest instrument to play badly, and the most difficult to be original with...and Laurie Anderson really knows how to use them...as a musical instrument in their own right, and she really showed the difference between the wo(men) and the boys

A wonderful, and rare breath of fresh air....she is an oasis of talent in a safe, predictable and corporate musical world where invention is fast becoming an alien, even verboten quality.

Do you think she'll ever get back with Burt Reynolds?
