Photoshop won't Launch!

I think I'm going to need some help here.

Last night I installed a new USB scanner (HP Scanjet 3570c). It comes with it's own scanning software and not a Photoshop plug-in.

I hadn't run Photoshop for a few days, but I think everything was ok prior to the install.

Now when I start Photoshop, it bounces twice in the dock and then nothing happens. I have ditched the dock icon, reinstalled both Classic and OSX Photoshop version, deleted the preferences in the Library folder.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

I assume you have tried re-installing from disk ?\

Thanks Aquafire, and yes I did...

It's been an interesting day. Shortly after I posted, I noticed a 'Damaged Files' folder that I could have sworn wasn't there before.

Sure enough, the photoshop plist file (whatever that is) in the Library - Preferences folder was damaged and deleting it brought Photoshop back to life. My reinstall time was completely wasted

Then I installed the AppleWorks 6.2.7 and later found my system running slower and slower. I think that Software Update, along with the other Applications updates that have come fast and furious at times, do take a toll on your system.

I ran Disk First Aid, then Norton Disk Doctor and repairing several errors and then back to the 10.2 Install Disk to verify and repair Permissions (several errors again). Now my 400mhz G4 really feels like a Jaguar.

I guess there's something to be said for routine maintenance.

Remember the good old days when we could just rebuild the desktop and zap the PRAM?
