Time for an AI rumour squad?

in Future Apple Hardware edited January 2014
Sometimes I´m rather surprised from where information linking to Apple pops up and sometimes combining two or more bits of trivial information can reveale crucial info about some future product.

So why don´t we act proactive and take responsibility of covering different sources each so we don´t have to go around and look in everything from press releases and road maps from motorola to local newspapers from Timbukto? Lets all take one area that we are familiar with and report everything that could even remotely have something to do with Apple. And lets pick areas where we feel at home (like hardware guys covering IBM press releases, Taiwan (if we have any) covering any rumours regarding Apple assembly factories aso)

I´ll pick first: I will keep track on general info from Denmark. And working for a mobile phone service provider I´ll look for general signs about "revolutionary" new products or services that could be used by a iPhone,

The idea is that we don´t just stumble upon information but know when its availeble and have it posted here right away. I really hate the idea that Ars seems to faster about these things than us

About the iPhone specifically: HW needs to be submitted to the FCC:

    ____

U.S. regulatory organ FCC's website has become something of a goldmine for those who want to ferret out information about new products that haven't been officially announced yet. Now, only a week after exposing Samsung's SCH-I600 based on Microsoft's Smartphone 2002 platform, we can reveal that Samsung also has a Palm OS based smartphone in the works. What's more, it bears an uncanny resemblance to the SCH-I600.

If Apple's new device has anything to do with a mobile phone infos will probably appear there.

As I mentioned in the NYT handheld thread, the Treo 180/270s were also unveiled this way....

all products have to be registered with the FCC don't they? and you can't do it secretly can you? so why not just assign people to scour through there...i'm not gonna, too many things

    Well lets see...

    Aug 13th new power macs

Aug 24th Jaguar (not two weeks - only 11 days)

The rest are a full two weeks apart:

    Sep 6th Jag 10.2.1 update

Sep 20th either iCal or iSync

Oct 4th either iCal or iSync

    Oct 18th ???

    Nov 1st ???

    Nov 15th ???

    Nov 29th ???

    Dec 13th ???

    Dec 27th ???

Six items left to fill... What do we have left to fill those spaces...

    Hardware:

    ---------------

Well the xRaid for one... (due by end of year)

    New iDevice?

    Lower priced LCD's? 19"??

    Software:

    -------------

    iPhoto Update could be one...

    iMovie Update?

    iDVD Update?

Just remember Steve is gonna need some new stuff for MWSF so I can't see ALL the iApps being updated. I only say iPhoto since I'd really love to see a more mature version of it.

Yea I could see Apple being able to fill some if not most of the spaces to make 'new stuff every two week' come true.

Now was that true or just BS?

Yup. Add three days, you have Aug 27th. Add two weeks, you have Sep 9th.

The Paris keynote is Sep 10th.

iCal/iSync could be released there, or two weeks later, to draw it out. (Although since they were produced by a group in Apple France, Paris makes more sense.)
