Issue: Avoiding the one hour delay in ability to turn off "Find my iPhone" In iOS version 17.4 and above
I am part of a team of Asurion Certified technicians that fix broken iPhone screens and this appears to be a recurring issue for many of us.
One past work around was to sign out of the iPhone which would allow you to turn off “Find My iPhone” which would deactivate “stolen device protection.” Another method was to have the customer remove the iPhone from the iCloud without deleting it. This would turn off “Find My iPhone” and again deactivate “stolen device protection.”
In both cases, these workarounds are only effective if “stolen device protection” has not been explicitly turned on from within the device.
Assistance in finding a solution to this issue is greatly appreciated.
