Does anybody know if the DVI inputs on HDTVs can be used to take and properly display a video signal from a mac?

Specifically, I'm talking about the Sony 50" LCD Rear Projection HD set and my mac is a G4 with a Radeon AGP. Anybody know? The manual for the TV doesn't say much of anything about it...

Normally displaying video from a computer onto a rear projection tv will ruin the tv. Rear projection sets are not setup to display static images and the image can get burned in over time. You could probably do it however for DVDs and such.

The set I'm using does not suffer from burn in issues. DLP sets also do not
