Help. Comp crash swithin from os x to 9

All I did was switch ... when i rebooted i got the folder with the question mark in it. thought it was a simple reblessing of system folder issue but when i booted with norton system works my HD would not mount.



Norton disk docter said to run volume recover so I did it recoverd 50 gigs when all i had was 30 gigs of stuff on it. Then I ran disk docter which fails each time because of problems in directory.



I decided to run disk warrior...i let it run for 72 hours...all it was doing was finding over lapping files at the rate of 1 every 15 seconds.



If i try letting the computer boot i get a finder error or -199 error which is same error norton kept givin me.



Need a solution cause i can't think of any.



Setup is iMac DV SE 512 megs of ram with a 60 gig hd i installed a few years ago.

    try holdin gdown the "x" key when u start up that will start up in os 10 but i don't know if this helps u.

    doesn't cause directory is fubar
