Last September, Apple announced that Kendrick Lamar would be heading up the 2025 Super Bowl Half-Time show. In preparation, Apple Music has a week's worth of exclusive interviews, new playlists, and even a new Apple Music offer for new subscribers ahead of the February 9 event.

"Throughout his career, Kendrick Lamar hasn't met the cultural moment so much as he's defined it," Rachel Newman, Apple Music's global head of content and editorial, said in the press release.

"He is an artist's artist -- authentic to his core. We couldn't be more thrilled to watch him headline the third Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show this year, in what's sure to be another moment we'll all be talking about for decades."

Apple Music

On Thursday, February 6 at 10:00 AM Central Time/11:00 AM Eastern, Time, Apple Music Radio hosts Ebro Darden and Nadeska Alexis will sit down with Kendrick at the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show press conference. A pre-show is sent to take place a half-hour before, featuring Apple Music Radio hosts Zane Lowe and Eddie Francis, alongside Ebro and Nadeska. The pre-show will feature Apple Music's biggest moments of 2024, and take a look at iconic halftime performances of the past.

Additionally, Apple Music features more than 100 hours of Super Bowl programming this week, starting on February 6. Exclusive content is set to feature "Live from Super Bowl LIX NOLA" broadcasts with Zane, Ebro, Nedeska, and Eddie. "Super Bowl LIX LA" will feature broadcasts from Hanuman, Brooke Reese, Estelle, and Jayde Donovan.

Evelyn Sicairos and Lechero will cover the New Orleans fanfare and celebrate Kendrick Lamar's music and hometown in Los Angeles. Ebro is set to host "Kendrick Lamar: Hip-Hop's MVP," a show designed to take listeners chronologically through Kendrick's catalog, highlighting milestones along the way.

Apple News & Apple Sports

"The Story of Kendrick Lamar in 20 Songs" is available on Apple News, giving fans an intimate look at the artist's history of redefining what hip-hop means.

In addition to Kendrick coverage, Apple News will feature extensive coverage of the big game. Football fans can expect to find the week's top Super Bowl stories, curated by Apple News editors. During the big game, the Apple News App will feature highlights, the halftime show, and feature the top commercials.

Apple Sports helps fans follow the big game in real-time on their Lock Screen with Live Activities. They can go deeper in-app with full play-by-play information, team stats, box scores, and live betting odds.

Now what does that tell you about the selection process for one of the world's most watched events of the year?

I mean… he was IN the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2022. He wasn’t the headlining act in 2022, but he’s already done the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Also, I’m quite sure even if you haven’t heard of his name, you heard some of his songs. Even if you were (for some reason) trying to actively avoid Kendrick Lamar’s songs, I doubt you would have been able to.

(Too late to edit my above reply.)

And by “actively avoid Kendrick Lamar’s songs”, I mean if you a Drake fan (or Drake himself).

I say this without exaggeration: The same way old Millennials like me today talk nostalgically about 90s touchstone pop-culture, children and young adults today are (in 25 years) going to be talking about Kendrick Lamar. In 2050, people are going to nostalgically say things like: “Member when Kendrick called Drake a certified ********* and we all danced to it nonstop on TikTok? That was crazy, right?” That will especially be true if he can get an entire stadium’s worth of people to loudly sing “and it’s probably a minorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr” (with everyone holding that “r” for as long as possible).

It says more about you that you think the election process is flawed because someone hadn't heard of an artist from a genre they probably doesn't actively engage. In fact, it gives me an age range and political leanings of you based on your comment. The most entitled generation.

Even a quick Wikipedia search would show you an entire page just for his achievements, which includes a Guinness World Record. But, hey, someone hadn't of heard of him so it must be that the selection process is shitty.
