Get one of those adapters, chop off the power plug adapter, add a couple of crimp leads, hook into your car's power system. Voila.

Or, do what I did and go get a 400W/40A power inverter ($42) that you can use to power the iPod, your laptop, your cell charger, a blender... Has two 110V outlets on it. Mounts under my dash in my Jeep.

Makes camping on the beach fun. "Anyone for more magaritas?"

How can you not know what I mean??? Surely I cant be the only one out there wanting a normal lead to power my iPod rather than a curly lead that connects to the cigar lighter...

I just want a normal lead that can power it from the cars battery/fuse box - liek normal stereos are powered.....There are zero car stereos out there that get there power from a curly lead plugged into a cigar lighter, They get there source from normal normal leads!!!

Thanks in advance - there must be a way

    'Normal lead'? 'Curly lead'?

I think the term you're looking for is 'wire'. Sheesh.

Your car is 12V, *almost* end-to-end. Find an unused 12V line in your car. Add one if necessary from the fuse box. Take a power inverter/iPod auto power adapter/whatever that is 12V input, chop off the plug from the cable. Splice into the unused 12V line. Mount under the dash, or where ever you like. Done.

Sorry, is that unclear? If so, maybe you should skip it, and just use a plug.

    DUDE!

YOU'VE GOT IT IN YOUR HAND!

    Jeez mon.

The wire that runs from the adapter to the plug. It's a wire. Cut off the plug. You are left with a wire. That's what you hook up.

Sorry, am I somehow being unclear on this?!?

    Plug----------------Adapter-------iPod

    Plug (cut) --------Adapter--------iPod

    Wire -> ----------Adapter--------iPod

    12V line (attach) ----------Adapter---------iPod

    12V---------------Adapter---------iPod

    Criminy.

Seriously, hire someone to do it.

Ah nevermind. I'm not getting into a flame war with Mr. Furley. Mildly offensive comments removed.

Kickaha is right - hire someone please.
