I picked this up from a friend, don't know what kind of cable it is. I was told it was a "macintosh monitor extension cable" but I don't even know if that's true.

does anyone know what it is, and what kind?

That looks really weird... my only guess is it's the type of cable that connects to the internal video on NuBus PowerMacs (6100, 7100 and 8100). Most had PDS graphics cards but the internal video connector looks kind of like this. But I'm not sure, maybe it's something totally different.

that's got to be dvi, there are many more pins on the internal video of the NuBus Pmacs

It's a DVI cable (I have one or two).

Used for flat monitors. (excluding the ones with ADC that is) [this is 'old skool' now and may PC weirdos use um]

I'd ebay the sucker for a quick $5
