Do any of you know if there will be a new MSN messenger that will enable mac users to communicate using voice chat or voice conversations? I predict it will be made for panther! I have been waiting for it-

Maybe, but maybe iChat 2.0 will support MSN so you don't have to use Messenger.

Actually, I posted a thread a while back with a huge list of strings in the current iChat app and instant messenger frameworks. There were some clear hooks for things like video, audio, and other servies like Jabber and IRC. I'll try to pull up a link in a minute.

Yup, that's it. I'm going to try to go clean up my post there since the UBB-to-vB import munged the whole quoted section.

edit: Okay, yeah, I cleaned up the borked UBB/HTML/vB codes in my posts and it should all be much more readable now.

It is just fiction at the moment.

    Pure fiction.

There is no evidence whatsoever that there will be support for MSN in iChat. There is no mention of it at all in the text I quoted in the link torifile provided above. In fact, I suspect this would be the last service Apple would integrate into iChat.

You are probably right Brad, but I'm sure that a lot of people would be happy if they did integrate MSN into iChat.

I hope the video they ad is better then what AOL is doing with the video messages (you save a short video clip and send it)... I want realtime conferencing that is able to hook into windows clients... voice would be nice too

I'd like to have voice capabilities in iChat PERIOD! Even the official AIM doesn't have voice.... how pathetic is that... Then again.... that's AOL for ya.. heh.

Doesn't iChat have hidden icons that show voice capabilities and people were wondering that this might be incorporated into in the future?

See my posts in the thread that torifile linked to here.

    Specifically, what I said here:

    mb-mic.tiff

These graphics follow the same naming convention as the graphics for the bold, italics, participants, sendfile, and smileys buttons that are in chat windows. So, there has obviously been lots of speculation as to if and when Apple will integrate voice and/or video communication into iChat.
