UPS / surge protectors / lightning strikes

Considering nobody turns off their machines, I'm assuming there are some good UPS's out there. Can anybody recommend a good one - and do they offer total protection against lightning strikes? Like most of the South, we get some intense electrical storms in the summer.

    Explanation .

    I use a Belkin SurgeMaster powerstrip with telephone protection.

    Gives good protection and a warranty on all connected equipment.
