Not sure where to post this.

I found this story on the BBC news website.

"A US university has given iPod digital music players to its students to help them with their coursework.

The students at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia have found that, far from distracting them from their studies, the music players are an integral part of coursework.

Apple donated about 50 iPods as part of an experimental project to illustrate creative uses for the machine.

University professors say the gadgets have helped the students think more critically about their course."

If you could attach a microphone to it and compress in real time, it might be useful. They are also great as portable storage, but using them to sample gothic music is a bit of a stretch.

what would be really usefull would be for the lecturers to wear the microphone, and record the lecture. Then make the lecture available on the website later that day.

Then you could download it to your iPod, and re-listen to the leture at your own desire.

While this is the best idea in all of history, many professors won't do it. They have enough problems with attendance as it is. Other's just don't care.

This program will end as soon as apple stops lending out ipods. Paying an aide to burn a couple hundred cd's is much cheaper.
