hi folks, this is going to be weird one because I need to find information that goes back a long way.
So I’m trying to find proof that I’m not insane and that Apple did try to open up the iMessage protocol but instead the telcos opted for RCS instead.
I’m sure it was mentioned in AI at the time but I can’t find anything about it.
Google and Bing give unrelated links, Wikipedia doesn’t mention it at all, and AI doesn’t seem to give a toss about old news.
Does any of this jog anyone’s memory? I don’t think Apple actually ended up opening the protocol because the industry were idiots going for inferior technology so that they could retain the ability to scam heaps of money off people but I know that Apple attempted it.
