Bug/limitation on SMB

I just found it out today that when I mount more than one SMB volume I then got instant kernel panic and had to restart.

Searched MacFixit and found lots of people have the same problem.

Wondering if this is the limitation or just a bug.....

There is a KB article on Apple's web site that discusses this. Basically it says "don't do that"

I wonder if it's related to my only source of kernel panics, mounting two AFP servers at once. Naturally, the old Macs (a 6400/G3 running 8.6 and an LCIII running 7.5.5) are rock solid.

Everyone here has at least 4 AFP mounts, 1 SMB and a couple of NFS mounts.

Haven't had a problem yet except for having to remount everything after a reboot.

Right now I have 4 SMB vols mounted. I keep them there almost constantly. I haven't had problems.
