Eudora 6.0 beta

Since nobody has posted this yet, I thought I should.

Qualcomm just released Eudora 6.0b18, the first public beta for Eudora 6.0. According to their Beta site, 6.0 brings mainly 3 new features:

Quote:

1. Spam-Fighting Tools. A whole suite of ready-to-use tools to stamp out unwanted junk mail. Right out of the box, most junk mail will be quarantined by SpamWatch, whose large dictionary of words can be simply added to by the user. Furthermore, Eudora's junk mail system is open to third party developers, so that other anti-spam tools, including those running at your site or ISP, can be simply and smoothly integrated. And, in true Eudora tradition, you can tweak and tune the system to your liking.

2. Content Concentrator. Junk mail is only half the story when it comes to wasting your time. You know how hard it can be to unravel a long email thread, or to find what the sender actually SAID in the midst of all the quoting, signatures, and other junk that's inside the mail you do read. The Content Concentrator will help, by giving you a streamlined view of your email. Easily get to the meat of your email, and see whole threads at a glance.

3. Mailboxes Drawer. Macintosh OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) users now have a convenient way to access their list of mailboxes from any mailbox window.

The new junkmail/spam filter works really well. It beats my own anti-spam filter settings to the punch most of the time. The new Mailboxes Drawer is a nice addition to Eudora's age-old (but effecient) interface. As for the Content Concentrator, I have no use for it.

Have you guys tried the Eudora 6.0 beta? What are your thoughts?

I love the spam filter, works well.

It did move one real message to the junk folder, but i got to it before it was deleted. I've since turned up the tollarance to 100 on junk mail, we'll see if i have any more problems.

    Eudora is a great app!

Looks the same as before, except now there's a drawer for mailboxes. It's just like Mail's drawer except the draggable area is much larger... makes it look like it was actually DESIGNED to be dragged.

I think it doesn't work with the keychain right though... I have to type my password quite often (when it should be remembering it) and it doesn't work correctly with my school's authenticated SMTP. I'm setting it up exactly as the school's help page says, but the help page is designed around OS 9 and it refers to creating a new Eudora-SSL keychain. I think that's why it's not working is because of some sort of keychain problem.

    Anyone know what's going on?
