Is there any way to...

I was wondering, is there any way for me to have iTunes playing while my iBook is closed?

I use my iBook as my stereo system, and often times I only want to listen to music and don't want the screen open to keep it from danger, dust, and have the unit take up less space. However, when you close the iBook, it automatically goes into sleep mode and iTunes stops. Is there any way to change this setting so that I can have my music playing in the background with the screen closed?

I'm using Jaguar.

well if you had my sister's iBook you could (currently being repaired due to the fact that it won't sleep when the lid is closed...)

i bet there is a way if you enabled spanning and plugged in a usb mouse and keyboard, but I'm not sure... EmAn would know...

but other then that remote possibility I think you are out of luck... (unless I can figure out why my sister's iBook does that. but it is a hardware issue, so it will be hard to do...)

My Beige G3 did that with the program MacAmp. You would start a playlist and put the computer to sleep. All the drives spin down, the monitor shuts off, then the music stops for a second. Next thing you know, one drive is spinning up and music is playing but the computer is still unresponsive. I had fun with that. (Then I lost the program in a hard drive crash)

The Pismo used to have this mode where you hooked it up to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, and you could use it with the lid closed. Trying to look for this mode (clamshell mode, they called it then) for the ibook brought up this bad news. Sorry.

I've heard it might be risky to run any new line of PowerBook or iBook with the lid shut --- at the least on the TiBook, a good degree of heat is dispersed through the keyboard.

Just turn on a screensaver; I've gotten quite fond of Flurry.

If you plug in an external mouse and the display adaptor that came with it (not the TV one though, because for some reason that doesn't work) the powerbook comes on with the lid down.
