It you want your Mac to be able to deep sleep, do not get the ATTO one. I have it (it came BTO from Apple) and my Mac refuses to sleep properly with it. When I remove it, sleep works fine.

other than that, is there a performance difference?

i would THINK the performance was better on the ATTO, since it's 64-bit/33mhz while the Adaptec is 32-bit/33mhz [i think?] ???

also, is that problem in osx or classic?

I recommend the Initio MilesU2W. It's old (4 years) but it works perfectly in OS X and OS 9. Fast as hell (relatively speaking).

Initio was the first company to have firmware that worked in OS X (even before adaptec). They were also the first to support Jaguar. They are committed to the Mac.
