    It seems you can



    Just go to your User CP, select Edit Options, scroll aaaaallllllll the way to the bottom and set the "Use vBCode quick links on your message input screens?" option to No.



    Works, but you lose all the other functionality...

    as long as there's no [blink] strobe [/blink] support



    but the old IE [marquee] scrolling text tag might be cool for tickertape speed typists
