hi

reading appleworks 6, the missing manual, in anticipation that i'll probably use it when i get my new ibook. but i noticed it mentioned appleworks 6 no longer had filetranslation that previous versions did for .doc etc files.

i wondered if this issue had been replaced in any subsequent updates since appleworks 6 first came out.

i couldn't find any info on what all the updates did on apple's site, atleast not in enough detail to figure out if this was now untrue.

if they still haven't fixed that issue, does anyone know anything thats cheaper than maclinkplus?

(which was recommended to use for this purpose but seems overpriced for just one purpose)

Well, I have AppleWorks 6.2 and it opens .doc files. It seems to include a non-standalone version of MacLink.

Yep, that seems to be in place: 6.2.7 has options all the way up to Word XP.

The last Word file anyone sent me formatted perfectly in AW, so I think they've just about got the problem licked.
