The 85xx series of chips are communications CPUs. Low-performance cores with onboard controllers to save money.
The 7500 was the mythical "G5" to be used by Apple. It was cancelled. Steve told Motorola in a that Apple would not be using the 7500*. Apple was the only safe customer for the chip. It was cancelled, probably around mid-2001. That we now know.
