Never used any MAC OS pre OS X Server (cept appledos which is a while back).

I'm now converting bout 50 mac ops to OS X and they have loads of Sherlock questions.

Is Sherlock a finder or can it do more. Why can't I find files with sherlock in OS X (I use apple-f).

Thanks,

Dobby.

Sherlock is not meant for finding files any more. It used to be in its previous version, but now finding files has rightfully returned to where it should be: the Finder.

Sherlock now is used for a variety of internet searches only.

If your people want to find files on the hard drive or network drives, tell them to use apple-F in the Finder. Finder's search is much cleaner and quicker than the old Sherlock was for finding files.

Additionally, you can add a search field to the toolbar in the Finder. If nothing in the window is selected, it will search it and all subdirectories. If there is a selection of folders, the search will only check those folders.
