Installing a CD-RW drive

I purchased a Lite-On 52x CD-RW drive for my DP800 PowerMac (November 01 Quicksilver). It appears the bracket for a second drive is designed only for a Zip Drive, and the lower door has no hinge.



Can I still install this hardware? Do I need to special order a bracket? Will I have to remove the second door altogether, as it appears to have no hinge and simply snaps in place?

    Short answer: No.



    If you are willing to go at your Mac with a hack saw you can fit a drive in the second bay, but apparently there are cooling issues because it is so close to the one above it. Check out xlr8yourmac.com for more info if you're the handyman type who gets off on such things.
