does this signify new portables coming, or is it just a push to sell iPods and portables?? 200 off the edu price is a ncie chunk of change....

    It's hard to say. Apple sometimes runs rebates just to feel out what the effect of a price drop would be, and sometimes just to goose sales, and sometimes to clear inventory.



    Unless IBM has been sandbagging big time, I don't foresee an imminent update to the iBooks, at least.

    Does this mean that if I buy the low-end iPod I can get basically the entire price except the amount of tax refunded? Man am I glad I didn't buy that iPod last week8) .

    I just realized that it's a $200 rebate when you buy a laptop and an iPod in the same purchase. That's still amazing, but it really bursted my bubble.
