I own a new PB G4 17" and work in the former Soviet countries. I am located in Almaty, Kazakstan far from any Apple Store.

I got cyrillic font encoding to work AOK in IE5 and Mail.

BUT, how do I get cyrillic fonts to work in Office (Word, Excel and PP)? Maybe I have not searched hard enough yet!

Thanks for those folks who took time to read the post.

I managed to find the answer - and simple it was too!

Finally scoured Apple Knowledge Base and found Article ID# 106484 which gives the route to follow.

For those who also might be wondering it is:

    1. Go to MacintoshHD/Applications(Mac OS 9)/Apple Extras/Language Kits/Language Kits Installer.

    2. Launch the Installer and follow directions.

    3. This places five OS 9 Cyrillic fonts into the Library/Fonts folder

    4. Then go to the OS X System Preferences/International Settings.

    5. On SystemPreferences/International window click on Language. Drag ðóññêèé to the second position.

    6. On SystemPreferences/International window click on InputMenu. Place a check mark in front of the Russian choice.

    7. This resulted in cyrillic in all apps through a keyboard switch Command+Space with a little flag on the Finder bar.

There may be an easier way, but this worked fine for me.

Been a Macintosh owner for 2 weeks and still not able to find anything I cannot do with it that I used to do on Windows. EXCEPT, I am having a lot more fun on the Mac than I ever did on the Windows 2000 machines...
