Original iMac memory question

If I upgrade my original, as in released in 1998, iMac's memory to 512 MB, exceeding the "stock" maximum of 384 MB, will I have problems?

I am afraid that the computer would "reject" it, so to speak (as I have seen when my friend put more memory than his PC's (not a Mac) motherboard could "stock" handle and the computer gave us a message saying to remove the excessive memory, which we did and then it worked fine). Thankyou in advance!

No, you will not have probs if it is the right _kind_ of 256MB sodimm. I recommend eshop.macsales.com, they have those for $59 USD. Max it out, baby!
