I don't know where to put this thread -- here or General Discussion -- but Loop Rumors is reporting that Apple is in negotiations to purchase Roxio.

Well, it would eliminate any competition from the soon-to-be-reborn Napster. I'm not sure how much it would cost to get Roxio. It'd be great if they redesigned Toast, and put it on every machine free.

It feels like a Microsoft Gobble(tm), however, I think, if true, that Apple was caught off guard by the ITMS's zooming success and are seeking a fast, fast means to roll it out to the Windows platform. Did Steve say "later in the year" or "by the end of the year?" There's been a great deal of discussion here about how Apple needs to speed ITMS for Windows before the "wannabes" catch up. Well, this is that speed up!

Again if true, this is great; expect ITMSfW sooner and better CD/DVD burning features. "iBurn" perhaps??

That'd be nice. And maybe a way to burn VCD's in iMovie? completely unrelated, but I'd find it uselful. Not all of us have Superdrives, you know.

And? eh? iTunes? On Windows? iTunes doesn't sound Windows-y enough. They should at least change the name to something else, to make it better differentiable. Apple Internet MusicBox Plus sounds more like something you'd find on Windows.

Roxio Toast is a vastly better, more complete and IMHO easier-to-use CD burning solution than the Finder, so I say it's a good thing!

Yes, sCreeD I think you are on to something. I think they had more success than anticipated. iTunes/iTMS or whatever they call it haha, would make a LOT of money. Especially with gift certificates that hopefully work on both platforms.

And finally windows jerkfaces would see how much WiMP's Visualizers suck. WhiteCap and the iTunes Visualizer kick it's ass! Can't wait to see a Quartz Extreme Visualizer in Panther/iTunes 5.

just wondering for geekyness sake, is there a cline for buring through terminal, how about sessions? Also though this may be going off on tangent but, since I'm not that good with the command line and I KNOW most everything is in the man pages is there a good tutorial that someone can refer me to to understand how basic unix commands flags and all work? I've always been a little fuzzy.- maybe an analogy would help...

sorry, I hate to do this here, but I personally think winamps visualization studio has much more potential with all the ones people have made are more interesting. less centralized in their composition. I remember using Whitecap a while ago, never is osx though, I should bite my lip and go and check it out in x...*poof* off to versiontracker i go

I think that Apple should drop Roxio and instead focus on Media Jukebox, a far superior app from a far smaller company. Frankly it is pretty comparable to iTunes and would be a way better basis for iTunes Windows.
