OmniPage Pro has the goods you desire. Its character recognition is good and very fast to my experience. I have heard that the PC version of it is even better but was happy with my experience on the Mac platform.http://www.scansoft.com/products/omnipage/opxmac/

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out more, but I was put off by the really negative review on VersionTracker.

Last time I used OmniPageX with the Beta Twain 5.75a (if I remember correctly) drivers for my Epson Perfection 2450, was mid last fall, about November, so whatever osx version was at then, it worked out quite nicely for me. I just let Omnipage do all the work. Scan and OCR on the fly. So it IS in fact possible that my feedback may be dated. I' do however have project to OCR tonight so I'll do my best it fime permits to get back to you on the turnout.

Read IRIS is what I used to use, worked pretty good. They also make this cool pen that scans in ocr.

    back with a stat report...

crashed the first time when I tried to do it without the wizard, and scanned at 72dpi (then it crashed). Launched the app again and let the wizard do the work, scanned at 300 dpi and smooth sailing from there. Excellent character recognition...

no problems, worked as it did last semester and as it should hopefully for future times to come.

Hi everyone, I mostly just read here, but this topic is exactly what I've been dealing with lately.

A friend of mine is constamtly redoing worksheets at work, he's a teacher, and asked if I could help him. I couldn't ind a program that was for Mac OS X, then I read this thread. I purchased and downloaded Readiris 7.6 and it's perfect. It works with my Canon LIDE 20 scanner and the results are wonderful, thanks for all your info.
