Here is something I haven't seen mentioned. 10.3 should come with a utility to make boot discs, either as a bare bones CD or full-featured DVD.
I haven't used a boot DVD on a Mac, but the retail OS X CDs are crap for booting with. They don't let you do anything besides install OS X or run Disk Utility. It would be nice if the 10.3 CDs/DVDs let you run applications, so if you have DiskWarrior on an external drive you can plug it in and say run it on your PowerBook and fix the internal drive. I would just feel better if Apple officially supported this you know?

should be possible, the 17" superdrive imacs come with a bootable dvd.
