MacBidouille posts answer to "PM stealth speed bump"
It seems that MacBidouille has info on what the recent PM update (referenced in this locked thread ) was about. It seems it's more to do with heatsinks than processor speeds. Which makes sense in light of what the authors of the original report said:
Here's a Sherlock translation of the article about the heatsinks (with pictures) for your edification.

Our report is accurate, but don't read too much into this -- the 970 is still on track, and there's little connection between it and P58C, other than that this could be the last Power Mac update before the 970. If you're waiting for the 970 and you think this is a good thing, you're probably right.
It's worth reiterating that P58C is a minor, invisible, technical update. It will not revert to the QuickSilver casing (that's simply an illustrative picture). It won't contain the 970. While we're told that some updates are related to Panther, that certainly doesn't mean that pre-May Power Macs won't support 10.3.
Finally, Think Secret isn't hard up for 970 info, but there are several points we're still confirming. We'd like to provide as full a picture we can with our first report, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me.

New radiator in G4 MDD 1 GHz - Lionel - 05:43:54
APPLE had introduced into G4 MDD FW 800 a splendid radiator
very out of copper.
Dual the 1GHz remained the poor relations with a massive and not very
effective radiator. APPLE has just changed the things. Here the
radiator of G4 MDD FW 800 1GHz have been just delivered (thank you
Syb)
It is always out of aluminium (with can be a small proportion
of copper bus under certain incidences it has red reflections), but as
for that of Bi 1,42, there are now very fine wings ensuring a much
higher heat-transferring surface.
It easily can be this change which explains the modification of the job
number whose certain sites spoke about rumour.

Lemon Bon Bon,
In lieu of posting our own coverage, we linked to last week's eWEEK report. While other details may come up in the remaining days, there's little we have to contribute -- at this point -- beyond what is contained in that report. We support the details of the eWEEK article 100%.
