Finding a song in the iTunes Music Store

Is there a way to find out if a certain song is available in ITMS w/o actually having to subscribe, get OSX, and install the the latest iTunes? (Sorry if I don't understand this well enough to know what I really need to make this work.)

It's a complete lost cause, but I am trying to track down a cheap way to revisit that album from Icehouse called "Man of Colour". If I can get it in mp3's that would be quite fine. I only had it on tape back in the 80's, so I can't imagine mp3's being worse than that. The only other way to get the CD AFAIK, is by import, and that's like 20-something bucks! That's totally not worth it for something from the 80's that wasn't exactly double platinum material in its time. Seems like all this old (but good) music should be sitting around somewhere where it can be downloaded at will (and paid for, of course).

Well, that's the sort of answer that just makes me tingle inside!

Can you search by artist and album, or do you actually need the individual song titles? If it's on the album "Man of Colour" from the group "Icehouse", I'm interested...

Advice on how to cost effectively get a hold of obscure music from the past (not easily available through traditional channels) from anybody here would be greatly appreciated, as well.

That's only in the latest version and the latest version only runs in OSX, no?

You don't have to subscribe to anything to access the iTunes Music Store. All you need is a decent internet connection. Just open iTunes, click "Music Store" from the source column, and you're done.

iTunes 2 was the last version that ran on "Classic" Mac OS 9. iTunes 3 was OSX-only. iTunes 4 (the current version with iTMS) is OSX-only.

Furthermore, iTunes Music Store discussions (and any other iApp threads) are suited for Digital Hub. Moving there now.

Nope, absolutely no songs by the group Icehouse. I've found that when you search for a specific song, iTMS has very limited numbers... but they tend to have the most popular music.

Yes, I had figured as such. No great loss- I knew it would be extremely low probability. Thanks for looking for me, though!
