Apple to use 970?
MacWorld UK has an article with quotes from a Microprocessor Forum report:

Suggests that "The 970 is such an obvious improvement over today's G4 chips, it is hard to imagine Apple using anything else in its top-of-the-line desktop Macs and servers"

Yes.
Now don't post new threads about it.

Ummm it's JUST as **CONFIRMED** now as it was when Moki and other started to hit about it oh these many months ago.
To some of us this has been confirmed for well over a year
To some of us this wont be confirmed till Apple ships a box with it.

a) Give the guy a break! Apple hasn't formally announced anything and any evidence that gives a positive idea of their direction is probably useful.
b) Sure, Apple are likely to be using the 970 or a close relative, so it is a bit of a 'dog bites man' story.
Apple is unlikely to make any heavily forward-looking statements based on another company's projected plans especially given the litigious nature of US investors (I bought 10 shares and they went down, because the world didn't turn out exactly as the company said.... you know the kind of crap to which I refer).
Also, if I was Apple and IBM, I would keep the market date of a 970-based system a secret for as long as possible for any number of reasons.

Mark, where did you get the card?

I second it (snipped above to condense space). If people would notice in IBM's "PPC970_MPF2002.pdf" file (that's listed on other threads) on page 14 where it outlines "Performance" and "Target Schedule" (amongst other things), the '*' after those "Performance" and "Target Schedule" headings signifies "Estimation only, subject to change without notice". Now that can mean a stretch in schedule (if we're talking about Motorola), or it can mean 'on schedule' or 'ahead of schedule' (if we're talking about IBM). It can also mean that IBM is putting out a 'very attainable' schedule for the masses, but has the 970 out and ready for its 'development partner'.
Guess the bottom line is ... Is the glass half empty, or half full? You decide!

No, no, you said it wrong...it's not "confirmed"...it's "****CONFIRMED!!!!****"
