Just as we get one upgrade it looks as though we might have another choice on the horizon.

From Digitimes:-

Nvidia on November 14 introduced its latest AGP 8x-supporting notebook-use graphics chip, the GeForce4 4200 Go. Based on the GeForce4 Ti 4200 chip, the new GeForce4 4200 Go delivers the same features and level of performance, the company said.

Technologies incorporated in the GeForce4 4200 Go include the Nvidia nfiniteFX II engine, the Accuview Antialiasing technology and Nvidia?s 128-bit DDR-based Lightspeed Memory Architecture (LMA) II.

For product development, Nvidia said that notebooks based on the new chip have already entered production, and are expected to hit the stores in the first quarter of 2003.

    A great big whoop-de-do.

ATi's Radeon 9000 is probably as fast as a Ti 4200, and the 9000 M has lots of on-chip VRAM.

It is also definately cooler than any Ti 4200 M would be, unless it was insanely underclocked.

Apple likes to use whatever graphics support is best. And that means ATi in PowerBooks, at least for another 6 months (if the NV30 blows ATi out of the water, which it may not).
