Mac as Alarm Clock

Is there any way I can get the make to wake up itself up at 7am and start playing the digital music tracks I've selected the night before, along with some funky liquidish screen graphics?

I just hate my clock radio and want to find a better way, and I don't care to leave the Mac on all night.

Thanks

Check out iCal Calling iTunes, which "lets you use iCal to schedule iTunes music playlists to play."

Thanks, but a quick glance at the iCal description sounds like it'll keep you're computer from turning off, but it does appear to be able to turn the thing on.

    Am I SOL?

the newest MacAddict (or Macworld can't remember) had a blurb on a freeware app that had scheduled wake ups, shut downs and even start ups for OS X.

    i'll check later

I haven't tried it myself, but you could use ResurrXtion to set your Mac to boot up at a given time.

What I do sometimes is use iBeeZz to start my computer at a certain time, the night before enable myself for Auto-Login, and put a certain MP3 in my Login Items. Or you can put your machine to sleep (almost the same as being off) and use Alarm Clock Pro to set an alarm, and if I remember correctly, it can be set to automatically wake from sleep right before the alarm is to go off. You can find any number of combinations to do this for you, my favorite is NeoAlarm because it's alarms make me jump out of bed. There are several apps you can use as alarms here.

Don't know about OSX, on OS9....Apple menu....Control Panels.......Energy saver, there you can start the thing.

System Folder.....Extentions manager, then ad your tunes to start up items, then your set.

Maybe panther will give us the option to auto shutdown and startup. Otherwise just get a program to start it up when you want, just turn up the speakers the night before so the turn on chime blasts you awake!
