Announcement vs. shipping?

Announcement vs. shipping?

1. New hardware announcement - not availabe yet and shipping in 5-8 weeks.

2. New hardware announcement - shipping in same day.

What would you like to see in the future? Is it better that Apple announces new hardware when it's ready for shipping or Apple announces new hardware weeks before shipping?

I would like see in the future, that Apple announces new hardware when customers could buy it from AppleStore.

The first is most convenient for Apple because they can accumulate pre-orders and know how many units they need in advance. Planned economy, I should say.

The latter better suits customers since they don't have to wait. Of course, customers prefer the latter, but I don't think the 'shipping in x months' practice is going to end any time soon.

I don't care if there not available right away. It helps knowing in advance. Could you imagine waiting another 8 -10 weeks for a PowerMac announcement after WWDC? I would go nut's! So, I really hope the do say something about the 970 at WWDC, or I have a feeling that more people than just me will be freaking out.
